So I’ve not posted much lately. Since the last post, there hasn’t been anything in the way of snow, and I suspect that winter has pretty much passed us by. (not good if you love sledging).
I’ve been attending 3 yoga classes a week, and doing the odd practice on my own at home as well, and I’m still loving it. In fact, last night’s class was awesome. I really enjoyed it, and had a great post practice buzz. So much so that I didn’t stop off for a pint on my way home as I didn’t want to spoil it.
I’m eating less meat, and more veggie equivalents. I love a roll and sausage on a Saturday morning, and Linda McCartney sausages are a great alternative to meat. I also found Malcolm Allen veggie lorne sausage, which taste wise is no different from the real thing, but the texture isn’t quite right. Other than that there’s no difference, it’s excellent.
That was a pretty good weekend. Made some chilli, coconut and lime chicken, did some yoga, went to the garden centre and had hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream, and finslly saw Alien Covenant, which I really liked.
I’d heard mixed opinions of the new Alien movie, but the naysayers were mostly people I know who like hard SF in book form, and hold SF media in disdain, so I’m not listening to their opinion. That aside, if it was a franchise I liked, I’d still go, and make my own mind up about a film. For example, I love the Star Wars movies, BUT can’t stand Jar-Jar Binks. A character so irritating, you were praying for him to be taken out the gene pool. If we could get a special edition of Phantom Menace WITHOUT Jar-Jar, I’d gladly put up with the holes in the story.
This morning before work I met up with a colleague and went for a run. Nothing spectacular as it’s been ages since either of us ran, so just a comfortably paced 3k or so to get the legs and the lungs used to running again. Felt great to be out running. I’d forgotten how much I used to love it.
(Dug out my Nostromo baseball cap since it seemed approptiate considering my viewing at the weekend)
So, last day of work before my trip. Off to Bali, with a 3 night stop in Bangkok on the way out.
I’ve never been to Thailand or Bali, and I’m really looking forward to this.
I’ve just missed the Bali Spirit Fest, which was a couple of weeks ago, so that’s a bit of a shame, but I’m taking a yoga mat with me, so I don’t have any excuses.
Bangkok is going to be a food-fest for me. It’s great timing as I’ve just finished my diet today. Lost 6 1/2 inches round my belly. I need to make sure that I keep to sensible eating now and not get back into bad habits.
Weirdly though, not that I CAN eat bread and sweets if I want, I seem to have lost the craving. That’s not a bad thing, so long may that continue.
So I’m getting the bit between my teeth again after having a pretty lazy week. Kicking off tonight with yoga straight after work.
At the weekend I’ll go inline skating on Sunday.
Three gym sessions planned for Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with my regular gym buddy and casual sadist, Audrey (she comes up with workouts that don’t let me slack).
Also on Monday I’ve got karate, and Thursday as usual will be yoga.
I came across a recipe for a vegan cheesecake, which I might be able to actually have while I’m on this diet (the honey might be a bit of a no-no but I can offset if I have to). It’s on the Cooking Without Limits blog and the recipe can be found here. I’ve never tried a vegan cheesecake, so I’m open to giving it a go.
