Wednesday was International Yoga Day, and there was a planned open air yoga session in Glasgow’s George Square, that I was adamant I was going to.
So, after work I headed to the square, and got caught in the rain. “Bugger this” I thought. While I loved the idea of an open air session in the middle of the city, I wasn’t up for getting soaked, so I headed to the station to get the train home.
As the train pulled out I noticed the rain had gone off.
Made up for it at last night’s class though. There were only three of us there plus Susan (the teacher), and it was an amazing session. Felt great afterwards.
The weather in the tropical paradise that is Glasgow, was, for a change, really nice.
On Saturday we headed to the Linn Park with Karen’s friend, and just relaxed in the sun for a while, before heading to the Old Smiddy (I still think it should be spelled “Olde”) for a lunch of 50 chicken wings, and a bowl of Dirty Chips (chips covered in BBQ sauce and bits of bacon).
Yesterday we headed to Bellahouston Park for some inline skating round the cycle track next to the sports centre. 10 laps on a really hot day was all we could manage. Fun to be skating again though.
On Wednesday, it’s International Yoga Day, and there’s a mass yoga session taking place in George Square.
Depending on the weather, I might take part. Would be pretty cool.
Last night’s yoga class was cancelled last minute. It was replaced with a pilates class as they managed to get a pilates teacher to step in.
I got offered that as an alternative, but didn’t take them up on the offer. I probably should have as I’ve never tried it, an my wife who does both, reckons they complement one another. (any other opinions would be interesting)
At the pub quiz last night, I just wasn’t enjoying myself. Felt a bit down (don’t know why). This morning, I nipped into the gym and did a wee yoga session on my own.
I’m currently buzzing with endorphins, and feel really awake, and in a happy place, in total contrast to last night.
So, yeah, I know have proof that even a little bit of yoga can have a really positive effect not only to physical health, but to mental health as well.
What’s not to like 🙂
Been playing with the camera in the garden at the weekend. Here’s a few wee pics to be getting on with.
That I find out if I can get my kilt altered enough to fit me again.
I’m heading to the kiltmakers to see if they can alter the buckles so that it fits again!
With losing 2 stone (that frankly needed losing), my kilt is now too big. I know they can alter it up to a point, so hopefully it’s going to be do-able, otherwise, I’ll have to invest in another.
This is the downside to being healthier (JOKE!!)
(UPDATE:- looks like it’s good to go. Will still be about 1/4″ too big round the waist, but the belt will take care of that, and at least it won’t end up round my ankles!)
With the case of the missing running shoes unresolved, Yesterday was a wee core session in the gym. I went with a work colleague who is wise in the ways of the core strength, and damn if I’m not feeling it today !
My stomach muscles are…… achey. Sneezing hurts my stomach in a way that makes me want to laugh, except of course, that would hurt too.
Tonight I’ve got yoga straight after work, so I’m looking forward to that.
Next week is Wellness at Work week, so I’m using the introduction sessions as a way of going back to Body Pump. I used to go about 3 or 4 years ago, and now don’t actually do any upper body load bearing exercise, to this should be a good opportunity to get back into it.
This morning I went into my locker in the gym, and noticed my running shoes weren’t there. I’ve a habit of not picking stuff up, so realised I’d left them in the changing room on Friday after I’d been for a run.
I checked if they’d been handed in, but no joy.
In the changing room, the cleaner was washing the floor, and I asked him if he’d remembered seeing a pair of trainers lying there last week. He said he’d seen a pair of blue New Balance trainers on the Friday morning, lying next to a bench, with no clothes or bags near them, and took me to the front desk and asked the girl there to get them for me. Again she checked and said they weren’t there.
When I asked him if he’d handed them in he said no!
Next question was “How did you expect them to be handed in? Someone has stolen them!”
Yeah it’s my fault and I now need to buy new running shoes, but seriously, he saw them lying on their own and DIDN’T put them in lost property!
I didn’t go running (no shoes), so a wee impromtpu yoga session took place instead.
So last night I dreamt I was trying to catch a spider in a glass to get it out the bathroom, but the spider was being chased by a small lizard that was trying to eat it, while another small lizard the same as the first was trying to bite the tale of the first lizard.
In the end I had all three in the glass (amazing considering how small the glass was, but hey it’s a dream, it doesn’t have to make sense), and got them all out the front door unscathed.
I know people think dreams are our subconscious telling us things, but I’ll be damned if I know what that was about 😀
